In the Community

PALS

What: Run by church members for the local community, it provides an opportunity for monthly worship, fellowship and entertainment.

Where: Wrenbury Village Hall.

When: The first Monday of each month (unless it is a bank holiday when it takes place on the second Monday) from 2:30 until pm

PALS started as an ‘Older persons initiative’ (older meaning anyone over 50!).

  • We start with 30 minutes hymn singing, bible reading, prayers and a short talk, followed by tea and home made cakes.
  • Entertainment may be a talk, quiz, or Wrenbury school children doing a play or singing.
  • Numbers vary from about 30-36 and several churches are represented – very ecumenical.
  • We hold a post Christmas party and a summer coach outing annually.
  • There is no charge for regular meetings, we just ask for donations.

We feel it is very much Spirit led and is popular with all.

Chatterbox

What:  A social luncheon event for anyone who wants to come along. Lunch is £2.50

Where: Burleydam Community Room (part of St Mary & St Michael’s church)

When: 2nd Thursday of the month  start 12 noon and finish about 1-15 – 1.30.

Transport can be provided for those unable to attend under their own steam.

There are approximately 28 members at the moment, but more would be welcome.

The lunches are provided by a small group of volunteers under the guidance of Heather Weaver. Food is often from home grown ingredients and is always home made. The cakes and puddings are delicious.

Now and then there is an additional day out.

Last year we went to Knowsley Safari Park and then on to a garden centre for lunch.
